The Next Big Thing

This site’s content is delivered by static HTML, that is, there’s no PHP and no MySQL running in the back to render the pages. I like the idea to set up the content locally, to compile it, and to upload the produced structure to some web-space, and I am happily using Hugo to perform these steps.

The sexiness of this approach clearly is that static pages are more secure (less possible vulnerabilities, no sql-injections, etc) and that they render more quickly (which, thanks to MathJax, does not necessarily apply to these pages).

And there is no interaction. Perfect for my needs.

However, there’s more to it. There are folks, some of them intelligent, claiming that static rendering will be the next »big thing«, and I agree. Because, if it’s not the security, if it’s not the complexity resulting in higher power-consumption and vulnerability, then it is the fact that we’re normally used to self-contained or stand-alone documents.
